The Marching Band class is intended to develop students' techniques for playing brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments and covers appropriate marching band literature styles, primarily for marching performances. Marching Band is offered during the fall semester. The competition season runs from August until the end of October. After the competition season ends, students will audition for placement in either the Symphonic Band or the Wind Ensemble for second-semester placement. Learn more about Marching Band here!
Concert Band is intended to develop students' techniques for playing brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments, but who don't want to participate in Marching Band. Concert band is offered in the fall.
Symphonic Band is designed to promote intermediate techniques for playing brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments, covering a variety of band literature styles, primarily for concert performances. Symphonic Band is offered in the spring.
Wind Ensemble is designed to promote advanced techniques for playing brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments, covering a variety of band literature styles, primarily for concert performances. This is an auditioned ensemble offered in the spring.
Jazz Band helps students develop their techniques for playing brass, woodwind, percussion, and string instruments as well as guitars and keyboards, focusing primarily on contemporary stage band styles such as traditional jazz, Latin, and rock. Jazz improvisation is introduced and developed. Jazz Band is offered during both the fall and spring semesters, and must be taken concurrently with another band class.
