String Orchestra
String Orchestra is a non-audition orchestra open to any student who is interested in playing a string instrument, 9th to12th grades. Prior knowledge on the instrument is encouraged but not required. Students are exposed to a variety of literature, ranging from classical to pop music. String Orchestra is designed to train young musicians in aspects of string playing, with the goal of helping students successfully audition into one of the top orchestras. This is a great class for students who just enjoy playing their instruments and do not want the stress of auditioning. Sting Orchestra is designed to develop students' abilities to play string instruments, covering a variety of strings and orchestra literature styles.
Concert Orchestra
Concert Orchestra is the middle level orchestra offered at RVHS, open to 9th to 12th grades. Students must audition to be placed in this ensemble. Concert Orchestra offers students the opportunity to perform a variety of literature, ranging from classical to pop music. Students will have the opportunity to participate in orchestra festivals. Students are also eligible to audition for the Jeffco All County Orchestra and various college honor groups.
Chamber Orchestra
Chamber Orchestra is the highest level orchestra offered at RVHS, open to 10th to 12th grades. Students audition in the spring to be placed in this ensemble. Chamber Orchestra is designed to acquaint more serious string students with the many aspects of orchestral literature and performance. Students are exposed to a wide variety of repertoire, ranging from chamber music to contemporary and full orchestra literature. Students are eligible to audition for the Jeffco All County Orchestra, various college honor groups, and Colorado All State Orchestra.
Orchestra Fee
Orchestra students are charged a $75 fee, payable to RV Music Boosters, through CutTime. The fee covers clinics, performances, special events, meals/refreshments, transportation, music, instrument repair, awards, and scholarships. To pay your fee, check your student's CutTime account (for detailed instructions visit the RVMB CutTime page). If you would like to pay by check, please mail a check made payable to Ralston Valley Music Boosters to P.O. Box 740058, Arvada, CO 80006.
